I was born melancholy, and that melancholy became the way I look at things: it’s the origin of my photographic style. My name is Giovanni Paolone and, with Atlas Wedding Stories, I focus mainly on wedding photography in Abruzzo and Teramo. Since 2015 I’ve chosen to dedicate myself exclusively to weddings because I believe every wedding day deserves a unique story, far from the banality of standard formulas. My approach is emotional and documentary: I look for spontaneity, the unspoken nuances and the details that truly tell who you are. I don’t work by the numbers: I will always be present in person at your wedding, and I never shoot more than one event per day. This choice comes from the conviction that the photographer’s gaze, presence and sensitivity are integral parts of the story I deliver. I don’t like clichés. Projects like The Dark Wed are an expression of a research that rejects ready-made phrases and pre-packaged images; I aim to offer photographs that breathe authenticity, contradictions and hidden humour. My images have been published in specialized magazines and I have the honour of being a member of ANFM — experiences that strengthen my path and my responsibility in telling weddings with respect and care. Working with me means sharing a simple, human journey: first we meet (in person or by video call), we talk about your project, the moods you want and the little obsessions that make your story one of a kind. On the wedding day I move with discretion, seeking the truth of emotions rather than forced poses; in post-production I preserve the right tone to deliver cohesive, lasting images. Beyond wedding reportage, I occasionally shoot couple portraits and work with Super8 film for those who want to add an analogue, cinematic trace.
